The Southern Cafe - St. Charles, IL

Visiting friends in St Charles from MD. We were in an Uber headed for Syrup in Geneva. Our driver, Nicholas, pointed out Southern Cafe as we drove by saying it just opened a year and a half ago and he recommended we try it while we’re in town. Syrup was packed and it was raining so Nicholas was kind enough to wait while we checked on wait times. It was too long! Glad we went with his recommendation. We were seated right away at 9:30 am. There were about 20 people waiting at 11 am when we finished. Very generous servings and we were all happy with our choices. I tend to go for unique dishes while my partner likes traditional. I had the pork belly with over easy eggs and hash browns, my partner had country ham with his eggs, hash browns and pancakes. Our friend went for one of the skillets - chorizo with biscuit and served with a side of pancakes. It was a bit much for visitors like us staying in hotel rooms where you can’t really eat your leftovers. My pork belly was nicely seasoned and meaty. My partner’s ham slice was massive and it was very good and not too salty like some country hams. Eggs were cooked perfectly. Our dishes ranged from 13-18, very good service and we didn’t wait long for our food to arrive. Recommended!

As a vegetarian, I’ve tried a ton of veggie burgers across the U.S., but nothing comes close to what I had at The Southern Cafe – St. Charles. Their veggie burger was so, so, so good—honestly, the best I’ve had in the USA. Flavorful, juicy, and absolutely mind-blowing! The coffee (recommended by the owner—I wish I caught the name!) tasted like Starbucks’ Java Chip, but even better. Smooth, rich, and perfectly balanced. Their avocado toast was also incredibly unique, especially with their homemade jam and cream—such fresh flavors! You can tell they use high-quality, premium ingredients in everything. I’m writing this as a vegetarian, but for all the meat lovers out there: if the veggie options are this amazing, I can only imagine how next-level the rest of the menu is. Trust me—try this place once, and you’ll feel the quality, care, and creativity in every bite. Highly recommend!

This place is awesome. The food was excellent. The server was great. The young lady I'm guessing was the manager was very friendly. The lady behind the coffee bar was really sweet. Whenever I go back to Geneva this is the first place I want to stop at. My family and I enjoyed every bite .

Had a great experience here! This is the perfect place for a girl's brunch or just to meet and enjoy great food. Are here during the weekday so it was not too busy. Service was quick a tentative and worked really hard. Food was excellent with fantastic portions and beautiful presentations. The biscuits themselves could be their own meal definitely make sure you try at least one! I love that they serve them with apple butter as well as other toppings. Great mimosa and coffee menu don't sleep on this this would also be a really good place to host any type of shower or event!! This is a definite must visit for the St Charles area!

Let me just say, I literally never right reviews on restaurants. If I could give this place 10 stars, I would! From the moment we walked in, immediately we were able to tell we found a gem of a restaurant. The atmosphere is a modern/country feel and the staff is very welcoming. I ordered their signature “Nasty” biscuit, and let me tell ya, it was out of this world. The prices are about medium range, but for the food you get, it’s well worth it! Our waitress’s name was Grace and she did an amazing job being sure we were taken care of. Never had to ask for refills, and our table was always clean. Will definitely be back! Great job Southern Cafe!!!

Absolutely loved it. Food was amazing and so were the servers. Definitely give their speciality pancakes a try! Don’t worry you’re getting big portions.

Went here for breakfast with some family. The inside is decorated so cute. There is a large amount of specialty drinks (coffees, teas/lemonades, mimosas) and there is a large variety in the menu. The food portions are large and was very delicious. I ordered the Apple Strusel French toast would definitely recommend. We already are talking about coming back to try more food.

The Southern Care offers dishes that are thought out and well prepared using quality ingredients. The coffee is good and endless. The staff was very friendly, courteous and professional. The dining area is comfortable for groups, couples or single diners. The restroom was clean and neat. If you have a regular appetite you will most likely take some home with you. If you have a lumberjack appetite you will be satisfied.
